As promised, another Koi Carp painting.
For this piece I used Sennelier Watercolour paints on an Arches NOT surface illustration board.
I like using board for this sort of work as I find it stands the washes of colour a lot better than the papers.
The interesting thing about the Carp fish is that it has no scales, making the markings on it’s body very bold. This particular type of Carp is the Showa and is, I think, very beautiful.
By the way, I find Sable brushes the best type of brush for all watercolour when you are doing this nature of work.
